Pillar One: Economic dignity

Work should provide stability, not anxiety.

This is the first pillar of an Advanced Society: Economic Dignity.

I often think about people like Miguel, a warehouse worker I met during a voter registration drive in Texas. He worked full time. Paid taxes. Contributed to his community. And still lived with the fear that one medical emergency could ruin his family.

That fear should not exist.

Economic dignity means living wages tied to the real cost of living. It means strong labor protections and the right to organize. It means no one working full time lives in poverty.

We are often told that exploitation is efficiency. That low wages are necessary. That people should be grateful for whatever scraps they receive.

I reject that lie.

Prosperity must be collective, not concentrated. An economy that depends on exhaustion and insecurity is not advanced. It is fragile.

What would change in your life if your work guaranteed stability instead of stress?
